Winemaker Notes

The agricultural campaign started slowly due to the prolongation of the winter season until February, with a consequent delay in the spring season, which led to a period of rain and low temperatures until mid-March. Nonetheless, the vegetative recovery was regular: the abundant rains in April caused a slow start on the one hand, but on the other brought a significant accumulation of water in the soil, also compensating for the scarce winter precipitation. The unstable weather with average temperatures not high continued throughout the month of May, confirming a delay of about two weeks compared to the vegetative trend of recent years, but in line with a more traditional trend.

The high temperatures of June, combined with the availability of water in the soil, created the conditions for rapid vegetative development and this required a lot of attention from winemakers to limit any phytosanitary problems. The hottest period of the season was recorded between the last week of June and the first of July, followed by days with milder temperatures alternating with rainy events. The second heat wave of the summer was recorded at the end of July, ending with thunderstorms that were also intense, but not harmful to the vine; the remaining part of the summer season was marked by a mild climate with sporadic and regular rainfall.
