Obsidian Half Mile 2019
Obsidian Half Mile 2019
Cabernet Sauvignon from North Coast, California
Winemaker Notes
Aromas of fresh blackberry juice and black cherries laced with brown sugar. The texture is velvety smooth, and the wine is packed with generous fruit. Flavors of ripe black cherries and blackberries are complemented by intriguing hints of pencil lead shavings, roasted coffee beans and the bark of cedar. This is a massive wine that still holds its balance with graceful acid and tannin through the finish.
Tasting Notes
“Half Mile” is a winemaker blend of select barrels to showcase the power and richness of volcanic mountain fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon is the core, with loads of dark chocolate seamed with herbs and spice. Petit Verdot provides the intense structure and color that distinguish this wine, along with a ribbon of lavender and wild black plum flavors. Petite Sirah brings freshness and roundness that give the wine a smooth and supple texture, and a touch of black licorice. Beautifully integrated oak notes of star anise, clove and nutmeg combine to create harmony and refinement.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with spiced tuna with saffron and Israeli couscous, grilled pork tenderloin with wild rice pilaf, lamb chops with spring peas, or hangar steak with asparagus salad, as well as dark chocolate cake, truffles, or mousse.
