Mongeard-Mugneret Fixin 2019
Pinot Noir from Burgundy, France
Winemaker Notes
Fixin wines are delicate in color and have an excellent structure in which tannins usually play a dominant role, making these wines robust rather than subtle. They have a good acid content and are endowed with a solidity and substance, which places them among wines that are best laid down for a certain time. When young they possess animal aromas suggestive of pelts and musk. These are ample wines which develop their bouquet over time as they mature.
Wine Spectator – 90 Points
A dense, brooding red, exhibiting black cherry, blackberry, plum, iron and earth aromas and flavors. There is a beam of acidity, keeping this well-defined, with a solid spine of tannins. Spicy finish. Best from 2024 through 2033.
Pairing Notes
Pairs well with roast duck, grilled lamb chops, mushroom risotto, beef bourguignon, and aged cheeses.
