Domaine Huet Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec 2022
Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, Touraine, Loire, France
Winemaker Notes
Taking its roots deep into the chalk soils of Vouvray, this off-dry wine resonates beautifully in the mouth. Its natural sugar and refreshing acidity blend harmoniously. Aerial and complex, this fruity wine is to be appreciated young, but can reveal itself graciously to the ones who wait.
Wine Spectator – 95 Points
This voluptuous, full-bodied, off-dry white shows a lot of power, offering round pear, mango and honeycomb flavors that take a salty turn on the palate, with brine, crushed flint and bitter almond skin, backed by a subtle hint of brioche on the finish. Opening up in the glass, this gorgeous wine offers loads of immediate charm, but should have a long life ahead in the cellar as well.
Bordeaux Bard – 92 Points
Domaine Huet was another highlight from my trip last year! This producer is truly exceptional and well-regarded for a reason. I often find younger bottles of the their Sec challenging, as they can quickly become dominant and dull as they age. However, this Demi-Sec was impressive all around! It’s light, balanced, and ripe, with fantastic acidity. I’m amazed at how well it’s showing right now. Will it lose some character over the next few years and then regain its vibrancy in 10 to 15 years? Perhaps! But for now, it’s great! (Carson McEvoy).
Food Pairing
Pairs well with fruit-based desserts.
