Domaine de la Solitude Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Barberini Blanc 2020
Rhone White Blend from Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone, France
Winemaker Notes
Homage to the founding fathers of the Estate. This wine is made from Roussannes, picked when their grains are adorned with their golden color, associated with Grenaches blanc and Clairettes. The Roussannes ferment in new barrels, the Grenaches and Clairettes in vats. This wine is aged for 8 months on fine lees before being blended. The majority Roussanne gives this wine its opulence, but the Clairette allows it to retain a beautiful freshness. It will be tasted between 1 and 8 years after harvest and even more for lovers of old wines.
Wine Spectator – 94 Points
This has a lot of coiled up energy, with fresh white peach, mirabelle plum and Meyer lemon notes laced with lots of honeysuckle and acacia. A kiss of brioche guides the finish. Yummy stuff. Drink now.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with brouillade with truffles, pan-fried foie gras, American lobster, vanilla lobster, brandade of cod with truffles, veal with cream and morels, roquefort cheese.
